Irritatingly painful!
I've been constantly reminded of my prawn fishing expedition for 16 days already! And it's a painful reminder!
Started off on a scorching hot sunny Singapore day... my friend's visiting from Aus and he wanted to go fishing. After taking a huge detour taking a taxi from Pasir Ris MRT to the kayaking end of Pasir Ris Park (where the taxi driver thought the fishing pond was), then trekking and eventually tandem cycling our way through the Park to the pond (which is actually just across the road from Pasir Ris MRT station *slams head into brick wall*). We looked around and decided to prawn fish instead. THE best decision EVER!
After paying for an hour each ($13), at the end of the hour our total prawn count was ZERO!!! (@^_^@) But we weren't going to go there and not catch anything at all! So we extended the time. They have a 3h + 1h free package for $39 which is great because if you go with 2 people they let you split it for 2 hours each! Whilst paying for the next two hours I embarrassingly asked the uncle at the booth "so... how exactly do you prawn fish?" LOL as we kept getting bites, but we couldn't figure out the technique to hook them out of the water!
The uncle there was really nice and got another uncle who is seriously an expert at prawn fishing to teach us. Even though as a pro the said the prawns weren't biting well that day, we managed to catch around 15 decent sized prawns in that 2 hours. Best challenging fun ever! I totally want to go again... and again... and again >;P
Now the painful reminder... as I was scared to catch the live prawns, I wasn't very quick and decisive in the way I grabbed them, so a couple managed to flick and their tail spike pricked me a few times on my pinky finger. One prick was quite bad and managed to draw some blood, but I'm no stranger to cuts so I just ignored it. A few days later I tried to write something and felt the side of my pinky knuckle hurting. The worst prick has actually grown into a small lump =( The other pricks are slowly healing.
I happened to bring it up with my doctor when I went in because of my cough. He said there was some tissue build up, but because I was on anti-biotics it should heal too. Which is what I figured in the first place, but decided to bring it up with him because I was already on anti-biotics for 5 days at that stage. He asked if it has been less painful since taking the anti-biotics. I said no. Then he said it will heal... o_O! Sometimes doctors give the most blatant answers! *rolls eyes*
But 1 week on... it's still a lump and it still hurts at the slightest touch! And I was on anti-biotics for 8 days! Obviously they didn't help!... So now... how? I've googled for other people who have had something similar and only got one lady who got pricked while she was peeling prawns. But her prick developed puss then she went to the docs and got it fixed. But my doctor thinks it'll heal itself?! =_=" I can't write properly or use my Wacom tablet properly either! Rawwrrr!!! Anyways, my cough still isn't going away and I'm nearly out of medicine plus I have to go on my company's sales retreat in a few days so I'll have to pay the doctor a visit and tell him about this painful reminder again ~_~"
